Stray Dogs

We are delighted to announce that Horsham District Council has approved Hammerpond Kennels as the kennel of choice for all stray, unwanted / abandoned dogs in Horsham and surrounding areas and has been awarded the contract for “Stray Dog Collection and Kennelling”.

We were considered along with many other applicants and are delighted to have won this contract. We are extremely pleased that the hard work and dedication by all our staff, together with our exacting standards and exceptional facilities have been recognised and rewarded.

Protection of All Boarders

An extremely important part of animal welfare is health and hygiene, which is one of our cornerstone values. To ensure that all our boarders are safe from any potential cross infection, and in particular, between vaccinated and non-vaccinated animals we make sure that both groups will not at any time come into contact with each other.

This is done simply by physically housing both groups in separate kennel blocks and exercised where appropriate in different paddocks. So whether you are have booked your dog in or have had your dog collected as a stray you can have the peace of mind that strict health and safety, and quarantine control is being maintained at all times so as to keep all our boarders safe.

You might think that there is a difference in the quality of accommodation or indeed the level of service each group receives – this is simply not the case. The “stray dog” kennels are exactly the same as every other kennel we have, they are all double sized kennels with large covered runs, fully tiled, and heated. The only difference is their physical location and self-contained status to provide the highest standards of hygiene for all.

Enquiries

If you have lost your dog and wish to check whether we have it here, by all means please call us. However, Horsham District Council will have authorised a recovery of the dog and depending on the hours of collection the dog may be taken temporarily to a location other than us. Therefore we recommend that you contact Horsham District Council first on 01403 215100, where they should be able to advise you as to whether they have recovered your dog and if so, where it currently is located.
